Election of U.S. Senators by electors of Mississippi; issuance of commissions by Governor. There shall be elected, by the electors of Mississippi, qualified under the law to vote for Representatives in the lower house of Congress, one (1) United States Senator at the same time and in the same manner that members of the lower house of Congress are elected in 1988, and every six (6) years thereafter; and in the same manner there shall be one (1) United States Senator elected at the congressional election in 1990, and every six (6) years thereafter; and the person elected shall be commissioned by the Governor.
