Any town, at the next regular municipal election following action under section 7-274 , shall elect two members of the board of police commissioners to serve for a term of two years and three for four years. At each such election thereafter, a member shall be elected for a term of four years to succeed each member whose term has expired. Each member of such board shall serve for the term for which he is elected and until his successor is elected and has qualified. (1949 Rev., S. 657; 1953, S. 682d; P.A. 76-173, S. 9.)
