A demonstrator device shall be provided inside the polling place for the instruction of electors. Any such demonstrator device shall instruct electors on the proper method to cast their vote, including the proper method to cast a write-in vote using the voting equipment located in each polling place. Upon request by any elector who desires instruction after he has entered the polling place and prior to casting his vote, two election officials of different political parties jointly shall instruct such elector on the demonstrator device. History: P.A. 87-382 authorized the use of a spare voting machine in place of a demonstrator machine and changed the term “dummy machine” to “demonstrator machine”; P.A. 11-173 replaced references to demonstrator machine or spare voting machine with references to demonstrator device and deleted language specific to lever voting machines, effective July 13, 2011.
