TrustVoting Terms of Service

Last Updated: September 30, 2026
This agreement applies to trustvoting.com and related services.

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the research, publishing, and community-review services provided by Scale Campaign LLC (“Scale Campaign”, “TrustVoting”, “we”, “us”, or “our”), including the Election Integrity Atlas, state-by-state election-law reform findings, downloadable reports, and the accounts, comments, and edit-proposal features attached to them (collectively, the “Services”). By accessing or using our Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using our Services, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you may not use our Services. If you are using our Services on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

2. Description of Services

TrustVoting publishes evidence-based research and analysis on election administration and election law, including:

Election Integrity Atlas: A scored index of jurisdictions across methodologies, data points, and instruments, built from public records and primary sources.

Election-Law Reform Findings: Statute-by-statute findings, gap analyses, and reform proposals for individual states, each cross-checked against the underlying legal text.

Downloadable Reports: PDF exports of the above, suitable for sharing with legislators, journalists, and the public.

Accounts and Community Review: Registered users may comment on a finding and propose an edit to it. An accepted proposal is a record that Scale Campaign will consider incorporating into the underlying source material after independent verification — accepting a proposal does not by itself change any published finding.

3. Account Registration

Some features require account registration, either with an email address and password or by signing in with a Google account. You agree to provide accurate information and keep your account credentials secure. You are responsible for all activity under your account. Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access.

4. Comments and Proposed Edits

When you post a comment or propose an edit, you retain ownership of that text but grant Scale Campaign a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to display, store, and (for accepted proposals) incorporate it into our published research, with attribution where practical.

You agree not to post content that is unlawful, defamatory, harassing, or that misrepresents primary-source law or court records. We may hide, remove, or decline any comment or proposal at our discretion, including content that violates these Terms, and we are not obligated to publish or act on any submission.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

Use the Services for any illegal activity.

Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of our software.

Interfere with or disrupt the Services or the servers and networks that host them.

Scrape, bulk-download, or systematically republish our research as a standalone competing product.

Upload malicious files, viruses, or harmful code.

Share account credentials or allow unauthorized users to access the platform.

6. Accuracy of Research — Not Legal Advice

Our findings are built from primary sources — statutes, court records, and official government documents — and every quoted statute text is machine-verified against the underlying corpus before publication. Even so, the Services are provided for informational and advocacy purposes only and do not constitute legal advice. Laws change, and our analysis may not reflect the most current version of a statute. Consult a licensed attorney in the relevant jurisdiction before relying on our research for a legal decision.

7. Intellectual Property

All materials on the TrustVoting website and platform, including software, design, text, and graphics, are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, modify, or publish any materials without prior written authorization from Scale Campaign LLC, except for reasonable quotation with attribution for commentary, criticism, or news reporting.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Services are provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. Scale Campaign does not warrant that the Services will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure. We do not guarantee that every finding is free of error, and we encourage readers to verify any citation against the primary source before acting on it.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Scale Campaign shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Services. Because the Services are offered free of charge, our total liability for any claim shall not exceed one hundred dollars ($100).

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Scale Campaign, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your violation of these Terms or your misuse of the Services.

11. Third-Party Links

Our website may contain links to third-party sites, including primary-source government records and court dockets. Scale Campaign is not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or availability of any linked sites. Use of third-party sites is at your own risk.

12. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time for violation of these Terms. You may stop using the Services or request deletion of your account at any time by contacting us.

13. Modifications to Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect when posted on our website. Continued use of the Services after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. We will make reasonable efforts to notify users of material changes.

14. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Kent County, Michigan. You consent to the jurisdiction of these courts.

15. Dispute Resolution

Before initiating any legal action, you agree to contact us and attempt to resolve the dispute informally for at least 30 days before filing legal action as provided herein.

16. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.

17. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Scale Campaign regarding your use of the Services and supersede all prior agreements.
